Job Title:  Weekend Meteorologist - WHIO TV

Position Overview

WHIO-TV Dayton, the #1 CBS affiliate in the nation, has an opening for a Weekend Meteorologist to join the Storm Center 7 team. The Miami Valley experiences all four seasons, making forecasting a central part of our coverage. Severe weather is a major focus, and we're seeking a candidate with strong on-air delivery who can provide breaking weather coverage with a clear, authoritative presence.

The ideal candidate has a digital-first mindset and connects authentically with viewers both on-air and online. In addition to filling in during the week, this Meteorologist will contribute to daily editorial meetings and turn stories.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver clear, accurate, and engaging forecasts across multiple daily newscasts
  • Provide confident, in-depth coverage during severe and breaking weather events
  • Contribute to storm tracking and team coverage during high-impact weather
  • Create and publish timely, compelling content for digital, app, streaming, and social platforms
  • Produce weather explainers and enterprise content that enhances viewer understanding
  • Utilize WSI & Barron weather systems to build visually compelling graphics and presentations
  • Collaborate with newsroom leadership to integrate weather coverage across all platforms
  • Represent the station at community events and public appearances
  • Occasionally turn weather related stories
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science
  • Strong working knowledge of WSI systems
  • Excellent live presentation, ad-libbing, and storytelling skills
  • Demonstrated digital-first approach, including social media and app engagement
  • Flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays, is required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
