Job description

METEOROLOGIST 
WINK News—Southwest Florida’s News Leader—is seeking a Meteorologist who delivers accurate forecasts with a personable, engaging on-air presence. 
Responsibilities:

  • Present weathercasts on TV and radio
  • Produce forecasts and weather content for digital and social platforms
  • Provide live coverage during severe weather events
  • Participate in community appearances and outreach

Qualifications:
  • AMS member; CBM or CBM-eligible preferred
  • Strong on-air communication and storytelling skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Tropical weather experience is a plus (training provided)
  • Refined interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate professionally across departments
  • 3+ years of professional broadcast meteorology experience preferred
  • Proven ability to cover severe weather and breaking weather events on-air
  • Experience with tropical forecasting preferred

Southwest Florida is a dynamic weather market—frequent lightning, tropical systems, and occasional winter cold events—offering a great opportunity to grow within a strong, supportive weather team.

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, including live broadcasts
  • Ability to work at a computer using weather and graphics systems

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Availability for extended hours during severe weather
  • Local travel as needed
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
