Job description

Here's The Role

LCRA is seeking a software developer to develop, modify, and support complex software applications within a sophisticated enterprise network and infrastructure environment. In this role you will interpret user requirements, design and build databases, and develop applications from the ground up. Beyond code development, our ideal candidate will be patching servers, applying operating system and application updates, and remediating Cyber vulnerabilities promptly and consistently. Effective teamwork is essential in our group, including collaborating with other developers, providing excellent technical support, and troubleshooting complex technical issues. We’re looking for someone who strives for excellence and demonstrates our core values of safety, respect, service, initiative, and integrity in everything they do.

How You'll Contribute
  • Design, build, and maintain enterprise‑grade applications on the current Microsoft .NET platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Evaluate, implement, and upgrade commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) solutions to meet business and technical requirements.
  • Refactor or rewrite existing software to support evolving functional, performance, or architectural needs.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and QA teams to support development activities.
  • Develop and manage SQL Server databases—including stored procedures, triggers, data transformations, and replication.
  • Build solutions using approved enterprise AI‑powered development tools and code repositories.
How You're Qualified
  • Six or more years of experience in developing and programming/coding software applications or relevant experience.
  • A degree(s) in computer science or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
How You'll Stand Out
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or computer information systems.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling and SQL Server database management, including stored procedures, triggers, and replication.
  • Hands-on experience with AI‑powered code generation tools and enterprise code repositories.
  • Experience installing server OS and software patches and remediating cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
  • Experience building custom GIS solutions using ESRI ArcGIS tools (e.g., Web AppBuilder, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro).
How We'll Support You

Benefits that don't just check boxes, they make life better. From healthcare to wellness to time off, we've got you covered, so you can focus on what matters.

Equal Opportunity Employer
  • LCRA provides equal employment opportunities and a work environment free of discrimination and harassment. All employment decisions at LCRA are based on business need, job requirement and individual qualifications, without regard to race, color, religion, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, genetic information, or veteran status in accordance with applicable federal and state legal requirements governing nondiscrimination in employment.
  • LCRA is committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodations to job applicants with physical or mental disabilities. Applicants with a disability who require a reasonable accommodation for any part of the application or hiring process can contact LCRA Human Resources (512) 578-4004 or email lcra.benefits@lcra.org.
