Abonmarche is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in our Kalamazoo, MI office.

Job Summary:

A mechanical engineer will be responsible for the design and layout of systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for various projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical engineering design and layout of systems for commercial, industrial, correctional, and municipal projects.
  • Assist in the development of probable construction cost estimates for projects within the department.
  • Prepare design computations including heating and cooling loads, ventilation, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and permits for projects.
  • Provide technical support to other staff in their area of expertise.
  • Work with other disciplines and project managers as needed to complete project deadlines.
  • Perform drafting on a regular basis to produce construction drawings as needed.
  • Review contractor submittals, respond to questions from contractors, and perform visits as needed.
  • Understands terminology and other concepts related to engineering and construction practices.
  • Responsible for job-specific quality system tasks as defined in the Project Management Manual.
  • Walkthrough and document conditions in existing buildings to prepare for the design of renovations or draft building assessment reports.
  • Assist in the review of contractor submittals and respond to contractor questions during construction.
  • Provide quality control review of peers designs.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • EIT (Engineer in Training), preferred.

Work Experience/Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience required.
  • Revit experience required.
  • InDesign experience preferred.
  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work alone or with a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Work Environment:

Typical office environment with some work performed outside on a project site. May be exposed to extreme temperatures. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety boots/shoes, hard hat, safety vest, etc.
