Job description

Facilities Support Officer ( NIGHT SHIFT)


Masonicare at Chester Village - Chester, CT


Night Shift -  Every Weekend Saturday & Sunday Shift - 24 hours a week



Summary of Position: Provides security for residents, employees and visitors; protects building, assets, and premises as assigned. Additionally helps to maintain facility in a safe and clean manner. 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Conducts preventative patrols of buildings and premises at MCV to prevent fire, thefts, vandalism and intruders.


  1. Monitors conduct of visitors on campus; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning as needed. Escorts employees and visitors to parking areas. 


  1. Writes comprehensive accurate reports detailing activities during shift. Responds to incidents/accidents completely documenting same using prescribed departmental forms and procedures.


  1. Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from employees, visitors, vendors and students.


  1. Provides assistance to nursing staff of residents as needed. 


  1. Reacts to internal and external emergencies at MCV.


  1. Secures and/or unlocks offices and buildings. Secures resident valuables or lost and found articles; maintains records of items received.


  1. Controls vehicle traffic around facility. 


  1. Notify supervisor, police or fire department when situations warrant. Notifies maintenance personnel for major snow or ice conditions. Snow removal, spreading salt, keeping emergency exits clear as needed. 


  1. Conducts proactive patrols of building addressing potential equipment issues. Eliminate 


  1. Attends meetings as required. Participates in mandatory in-service education programs.


  1. Responds to fire alarms, calls for aid and other emergencies at MCV following described procedures in the Fire/Disaster plan and departmental policy and procedures. Communicates important information to pertinent staff. Eliminate 


  1. Provides prompt, courteous service to residents and their families with a positive attitude. When speaking with residents, listens to their concerns and responds appropriately in a professional manner.


  1. Helps create a safe work environment by following safety guidelines to prevent injuries to staff, residents, and visitors. Notifies management of unsafe work conditions.


  1. Adheres to departmental dress code by wearing full uniform and presenting a neat, clean and professional appearance.


  1. Provides daily cleaning activities as assigned. Set ups for events and meetings.


  1. Provides first call response to assist resident with facility issues that may arise.


  1. Communicates effectively and tactfully with adult and older residents/patients, recognizing their age, cultural diversity, needs, abilities and physical condition. Eliminate/change?


  1. Perform work orders assigned by supervisor


  1. Performs other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications:


Education: High School or GED


Experience: 6-12 months experience in security operations, or in a general maintenance role. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  n/a


Key Competencies: Able to handle emergency situations. Able to handle multiple demands. Interpersonal skills. Must be able to speak, read and write English.
