SUMMARY
The Senior Automation Engineer at Matrix Design, LLC plays a key role in quoting, designing, programming, and implementing robotic automation systems to improve manufacturing efficiency, safety, and quality. This role involves leading complex automation projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring engineers. Based on-site in Bartlett, IL, the engineer will drive innovation in industrial automation solutions aligned with customer needs and company goals.

2. PROJECT EXECUTION & LEADERSHIP

  • Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.

3. SYSTEM DESIGN & INTEGRATION

  • Design and develop robotic automation systems for industrial applications.
  • Program and integrate robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa) with PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems.

4. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION & SAFETY

  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure systems comply with safety standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering.

5. DOCUMENTATION & KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER

  • Prepare technical documentation, internal handoff documentation, user manuals, and training materials.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • High proficiency in robot programming (e.g., FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, KUKA)
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMIs, and industrial communication protocols
