Job description

Job Summary:

The Machinist works under the supervision of the Lead Supervisor, performing a variety of tasks with manual lathes and/or machining centers by applying knowledge of machine shop theory, procedures, and machinability of materials. Must be familiar with Poreba and DSNG.  This position would be an evening shift starting after 2pm.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and operate lathes or machining centers to perform machining functions, such as turning, milling, boring, facing and threading parts.
  • Repair work with various threads
  • Interpret engineering drawings for specifications, set up and operating requirements.
  • Clean machine, tooling and parts, and may perform minor machine maintenance.
  • Maintain product identification and traceability of parts including stamping/re-stamping control numbers as required.
  • Comply with safety, quality, 5S, and house-keeping requirements throughout the machine shop area in the facility.

Job Qualifications:

  •  Experience with setup and operation of CNC Lathes and/or Mills.
  • Trade certification considered an asset, but not required.
  • Overhead Crane and Forklift Certificates an asset.
  • Poreba and DSNG experience preferred.
