About the role

As an Assembly Technician at Westmag, you will be responsible for the precision assembly, testing, and quality inspection of the motors and actuators that power leading drone and robotics platforms. Working on a fast-paced production line, you will be on the frontlines of American reindustrialization, building high quality hardware products, and contributing to continuous improvement as we scale production.

  • Wind, terminate, and connect motor coils and stator windings per assembly drawings.
  • Install bearings, magnets, shafts, and encoder/sensor sub-assemblies using appropriate tooling.
  • Apply adhesives, potting compounds, and thermal interface materials as required.
  • Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and back-EMF testing on completed motor assemblies.
  • Perform visual and functional inspections at multiple points in the production process.
  • Record test data and production metrics in the manufacturing execution system (MES).
  • Follow standardized assembly procedures while documenting production progress.
  • Identify and escalate non-conforming parts or process deviations to the production lead.
  • Support rework, repair, and validation activities on returned or out-of-spec assemblies.

Requirements

Required qualifications
  • GED, high school diploma, or higher.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small, fine-pitch components.
  • Ability to record data accurately and consistently follow documented work instructions.
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to meet production targets in a fast-paced environment.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
Preferred qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in electronics assembly, lab work, or a related technician role.
  • Soldering experience (PCB or wire).
  • Electronics repair experience (smartphones, PCs, or similar devices).
  • Drone / UAS piloting experience.
  • Familiarity with ESD handling procedures or working in an MES-driven production environment.
Work environment & physical requirements
  • On-site role on a climate-controlled production floor with moderate machinery noise.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a workbench for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Comfortable working with small components under magnification.
  • Use of PPE including lab coats, safety glasses, and gloves as required.
  • Exposure to adhesives, solvents, and soldering fumes; local extraction and ventilation provided.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend shifts may be required to meet production schedules.
