Position Summary
This position reports to the Manager of Borrower Services and is accountable for providing support to the librarians and for the management of the Borrower Services Department during hours when librarians are not available. This position is also responsible for opening and securing the library at closing and general monitoring of the facility.
This is a 12 month, 35 hour a week position. This position has non-traditional hours based on library needs. The finals, winter break, and summer schedules are variable according to academic sessions and library hours. This position works Sunday to Thursday (10am-6pm).

Principal Accountabilities
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Providing patron assistance through face-to-face and digital methods, library systems and electronic and print information resources. This includes circulating library materials to patrons and offering more library services.
  • Testing, implementing, and operationalizing emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality.
  • Assist with oversight of the VR equipment, software, and faculty outreach.
  • Effectively working with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and community members.
  • Processing Interlibrary Loan requests using the library's integrated library system. This includes document scanning and packing/shipping physical library materials and tracking usage statistics via Excel and the library's integrated library system reports
  • Processing and maintaining print and electronic course reserves using the library's integrated library system.
  • Entering information for new materials in our catalog via the library's integrated library system (copy-cataloging).
  • Hiring, supervising and training Borrower Services student employees. This includes scheduling shifts and creating and managing work for the students.
  • Organize and maintain physical book collections including the Course Reserve section and the Athletics section.
  • Providing basic troubleshooting of equipment such as copiers, printers, scanners; assisting library users with MS Office suite and other software packages.
  • Promoting library materials and services via digital signage, social media, and more.
  • Providing accurate and timely administrative support to the librarians and assisting other departments as needed.
  • Attending department and library staff meetings.
  • Performing other related responsibilities as assigned.

  • Detail-oriented, excellent organizational and communication skills, and comfort learning and using emerging technologies.
  • Previous experience supervising student assistants or staff.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
