Landscape/Lawn Maintenance Crew Laborer

The Landscape/Lawn Maintenance Crew Laborer is responsible for working in the field on a crew performing the daily lawn and landscape operations while making sure the crew remains on schedule, communicating with management and office staff. This includes ensuring work is completed as outlined under the direction of the Crew Leader while safety and quality standards are met. Crew Laborer will be responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of assigned equipment and tools, the completion of all necessary paperwork, reporting, maintenance of assigned equipment and follows all safety protocols. The Crew Laborer works with other crew laborers and Leader to ensure work is completed on time, to scope and according to the highest standards of safety and quality.

Landscape/Lawn Maintenance Crew Laborer Duties

  • Works with other landscape crew members making sure work is completed to customer standards
  • Works with Crew Leader and others to maintain schedules and deadlines
  • Train other crew members in proper landscape techniques and use of tools when applicable
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality
  • Maintain landscape equipment and supplies
  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed
  • Communicate with site personnel or client representatives when required

Landscape/Lawn Maintenance Crew Laborer Skills

  • Organizational skills, must have ability to use Email, Site reporting applications via smartphone
  • Ability to work with others and be a team player
  • Knowledge of landscape operations and horticulture practices, including proper planting techniques, mulching, proper trimming and pruning practices, grading, work area management
  • Knowledge and adherence of all local and state rules, regulations and requirements when applicable
  • Ability to operate landscape equipment and machinery
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, possibly for extended periods of time, including nights, weekends or holidays
  • Able to lift 50lbs.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal, text and email
  • Ability to identify out of scope work and provide information for quotes to clients

Landscape/Lawn Maintenance Crew Laborer Requirements-(Some Optional as noted)

  • (Optional) Possess a valid Driver’s License with minimum of 5 years’ drivers experience
  • Be legally able to work in the United States
  • (Optional-Only applies if driving a company vehicle) Currently possess a current DOT Medical card, or obtain one withing the first 30 days of employment
  • (Optional) Ability to drive a non CDL truck and trailer
  • Pass applicable back round check
  • Possess a smart Phone or device
  • Knowledge of safe work practices
  • (Optional) Basic Knowledge of irrigation systems
  • Ability to identify landscape plants, grasses, weeds and possible diseases
  • Comprehensive knowledge and operation of tools required to complete work tasks Mowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, edgers, string trimmers, blowers and other support equipment
  • Ability to trim and prune shrubs
