Overview
Perform general maintenance tasks throughout the campus. Hours for this position are Monday-Friday 7:00AM to 3:30 PM.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform maintenance and repair of building architectural systems and elements typically involving replacement of windows, doors, roofs, insulation, floor covering, minor painting, screens, shades, partitions, furniture, ceilings, gutters, walkways, stairs, etc.
  2. Remove trash, rubbish, debris, and packing materials.
  3. Performs typical manual labor tasks
  4. Repairs, maintain, replacing and cleaning items such as; signs, fencing, railings, light poles, benches etc.
  5. Clean roof drains and storm basins.
  6. Maintains general maintenance equipment and tools (including power tools) by cleaning, lubricating, and proper storage.
  7. Assist in set-ups and breakdowns of furniture for events and functions.
  8. Receiving deliveries, loading and unloading trucks and trailers.
  9. Demolition and cleanup of wall materials, ceiling tiles, flooring and other building elements.
  10. Operates light automotive trucks and equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, snow plows and sanders, etc.
  11. Moving materials, files, furnishings and equipment at work sites, storerooms, stockrooms, warehouses, vehicles and college buildings.
  12. Respond, in a timely manner) to emergency situations on the campus, such as snow removal, flooding, down trees, and other severe weather conditions.
  13. Clean and pick up trash from all areas of campus grounds including streets, sidewalks, parking lots, storm drains.
  14. Plunge sinks and toilets.
  15. Battery replacement, Persona locks, and other devices, such as: local area alarms, smoke detectors, etc. that do not require license or certification.
  16. Maintains athletic fields including artificial turf fields.

MARGINAL DUTIES:
  1. Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to perform several tasks within a specific time period without immediate supervision.
  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions
  • Some ability to operate light automotive trucks, wheel tractors, sidewalk plows/sanders and other similar maintenance, repair, and construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of the use of common hand tools and portable hand held power tools.
  • Some experience in general maintenance manual labor and in the use of tools.
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time under varying climate conditions.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Must hold a current, valid driver's license and meet all of the College's requirement for the Motor Vehicle Use Policy.
