Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Clerk to support the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. This role involves performing clerical tasks, handling laboratory results, and ensuring smooth communication within the department. The ideal candidate will be familiar with laboratory procedures, maintain confidentiality, and provide excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clerical tasks, including data entry and record management, using the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Route calls to the appropriate departments within the laboratory with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Research and verify information from records as needed.
  • Provide laboratory results to physicians, nursing staff, and authorized personnel.
  • Fax results to physicians or departments inside and outside the organization, with proper consent.
  • Accession specimens and retrieve results efficiently using the Laboratory Computer System.
  • Maintain patient and employee confidentiality in all information management tasks.
  • Follow hospital safety protocols, including HIP nd infection control regulations.
  • Participate in department performance improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate professional, courteous, and respectful interactions with patients, families, and hospital staff.
  • Handle biohazardous specimens, ensuring they are properly transported to their designated areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in English with strong communication skills.
  • Must have High School Diploma
  • At least six months of experience in clerical work.
  • Excellent computer skills, with experience using laboratory systems.
  • Ability to handle biohazard specimens in accordance with laboratory standards.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
