Host – JINYA Ramen BarJob SummaryAt JINYA Ramen Bar, Hosts are the first impression of our brand and play a vital role in creating a fun, welcoming, and memorable dining experience. Our Hosts set the tone for every guest visit through friendly service, positive energy, professionalism, and strong communication.
As a Host, you will support the entire front-of-house team — including servers, food runners, and management — while helping guide guests through a smooth and enjoyable dining experience from arrival to seating.
Primary ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience & HospitalityGreet guests warmly upon arrival and manage seating arrangements, reservations, and wait lists
Engage guests with a cheerful, friendly, and professional demeanor
Provide menus and assist with initial questions or special accommodations
Participate in JINYA’s signature greetings such as “Irasshai” and “Arigato”
Ensure guests feel welcomed, informed, and cared for from the moment they enter
Front-of-House OperationsAnswer phone calls, take reservations, and manage guest flow efficiently
Assign tables while maintaining consistent server rotation
Maintain cleanliness of the host stand, entryway, and guest-visible areas
Support servers and food runners with beverage refills, table resets, polishing plates or glassware, and general dining room upkeep
Communication & TeamworkCommunicate clearly and professionally with front-of-house and back-of-house teams
Respond to minor guest concerns and notify management of major issues
Maintain knowledge of restaurant hours, menu offerings, allergens, table numbers, and payment options

Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned by management
Required CompetenciesRestaurant or customer service experience preferred but not required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced restaurant environment
Positive attitude and ability to perform well under pressure
Experience using reservation systems such as OpenTable or similar platforms is a plus
Dependable, reliable, and self-motivated
Ability to work well within a diverse, multicultural team
Flexible availability including weekends and holidays
Education & CertificationsAbility to read, write, and speak English
Must obtain and maintain all required city, state, and federal certifications, including food handling permits and alcohol service certifications where applicable
Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a professional, high-energy restaurant environment. Hosts routinely move between dining areas and kitchen entrances while handling menus, trays, glassware, and restaurant tools.
The position involves frequent communication with guests and team members, occasional ladder use for overhead items, and constant awareness of cleanliness and safety.
Physical DemandsStand and walk for extended periods
Use hands and arms for handling menus, trays, and table resets
Lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds when necessary
Work in indoor and outdoor areas that may be hot, humid, or wet
Bend, reach, and navigate tight restaurant spaces efficiently
Distinguish food flavors and quality when assisting guests
