Location: McLean, VA (Hybrid)

  • Onsite: 3 days per week
  • Remote: 2 days per week
  • Occasional after-hours and weekend support required for emergencies

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Microsoft 365 Systems Administrator to provide exceptional technical support and systems administration for a growing Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), supporting a geographically dispersed workforce of over 100 employees. This role is responsible for administering Microsoft 365 tenants in GCC High, Entra ID identity policies, maintaining end-user devices, managing Tier 1 and Tier 2 support requests, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a hands-on IT professional with proficiencies in M365 administration, Entra ID administration, automation, troubleshooting, networking, and securing government contractor environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Microsoft GCC High environments, including Microsoft 365 applications and services.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Office applications across all supported platforms.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, licensing, and access using Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and Microsoft 365.
  • Document incidents, service requests, resolutions, and technical procedures within the IT service management system.
  • Monitor and maintain endpoint security, software updates, antivirus, and compliance standards.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for approximately 100 end users.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, operating system, network, printer, and peripheral issues.
  • Support Windows PCs and Apple Mac computers, including deployment, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with vendor support and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding employees, including workstation setup and account provisioning.
  • Develop reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Support IT asset management, inventory tracking, and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Participate in system upgrades, infrastructure projects, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide occasional after-hours and weekend support during emergencies, maintenance windows, or critical outages.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional IT support or systems administration experience.
  • Competent with Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and M365 administration.
  • Knowledge of endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
  • Practical hands-on automating systems administration with PowerShell, Terraform, Python or similar scripting techniques.
  • Experience managing Tier 1 and Tier 2 service desk operations.
  • Experience supporting both Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple support requests while meeting service level expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with basic SharePoint administration and content development.
  • Exposure to Power Platform with desire to learn Power Automate.
  • Experience securing M365 for NIST SP 800-171 compliant handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
  • A few relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Endpoint Administrator Associate, Administrator Expert, Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Power Platform Fundamentals, Team Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent Administration Fundamentals, Network+, Security+, etc.
