Rope Access Technician - IRATA Levels 1, 2 & 3

We are seeking current IRATA Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Rope Access Technicians for upcoming industrial projects. Technicians with mechanical, NDE/inspection, E&I, welding, coatings, insulation, composite/FRP or other industrial craft experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Position Summary
Performs industrial inspection, maintenance, repair, installation and specialty work using rope access as the method of access. Technicians work within their IRATA level, training, demonstrated competency and assigned scope. Level 1 and Level 2 technicians work under Level 3 supervision; Level 3 technicians may be assigned advanced rigging, rescue and rope access safety-supervision duties.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform rope access work in accordance with CAM procedures, IRATA requirements, client/site rules, approved work plans, risk assessments and rescue plans.
  • Perform assigned inspection, maintenance, repair, installation or specialty industrial work only when trained, qualified and authorized for the scope.
  • Complete pre-use checks of personal rope access equipment; care for issued equipment and report or remove damaged or suspect equipment from service.
  • Rig, use, protect and manage rope systems, tools and work areas within certification level and demonstrated competency, including dropped-object and exclusion-zone controls.
  • Participate in pre-job planning, toolbox talks, hazard identification, rescue briefings, drills and rescues appropriate to certification level and assigned role.
  • Complete required work records and IRATA logbook entries accurately and promptly report hazards, incidents, near misses or changing conditions.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, support other technicians and crafts, and maintain safe, quality and productive work.

Qualifications
  • Current IRATA Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 certification.
  • Industrial construction, maintenance, inspection, turnaround or related field experience preferred.
  • Additional craft or inspection qualifications are preferred, including NCCER; MT, PT, UT, RT or PMI; welding; mechanical; E&I; coatings; insulation; or composite/FRP experience.
  • Must be able to safely work at heights and in industrial environments, including restricted or confined spaces when required and properly qualified.
  • Participates in required CAM/site training, competency verification and refresher training and maintains required certifications for assigned work.
  • Ability to understand and follow procedures, work packs, drawings, sketches, specifications and job instructions applicable to the scope.
  • Demonstrates strong safety awareness, recognizes changing conditions and hazards, and exercises stop-work authority when conditions are unsafe.
  • Must possess effective communication, teamwork, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work project schedules that may include overtime, nights, weekends or extended shifts.
  • A valid driver's license, TWIC card, passport or other site-specific credentials may be required by the project.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to safely wear required PPE and rope access equipment and perform work involving climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and repetitive motions.
