Weekend Interior Design Procurement information

What is a weekend interior design procurement specialist?

A Weekend Interior Design Procurement specialist is a professional who sources and purchases furniture, fixtures, materials, and accessories specifically for interior design projects, working primarily on weekends. Their responsibilities include coordinating with suppliers, managing orders, tracking deliveries, and ensuring that all purchased items meet the aesthetic and functional requirements of the design project. This role is ideal for individuals who have strong organizational skills and a keen eye for design, and who may not be available for procurement tasks during the traditional workweek. Weekend Interior Design Procurement specialists often work closely with interior designers and clients to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget. They also keep up with industry trends and vendor options to source the best products available.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend interior design procurement specialist?

To excel in Weekend Interior Design Procurement, you need a solid understanding of interior design principles, materials sourcing, and vendor management, often backed by a degree in interior design or a related field. Familiarity with procurement platforms, inventory management systems, and project management tools like AutoCAD or SketchUp is typically required. Strong organizational skills, negotiation abilities, and clear communication set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure that design projects are supplied efficiently, cost-effectively, and according to client specifications, even within limited weekend timeframes.

What are some common challenges faced in a weekend interior design procurement role, and how can they be managed?

Weekend interior design procurement professionals often face tight timelines and limited vendor availability, which can make sourcing materials and coordinating deliveries more challenging than during standard business hours. Effective communication with suppliers ahead of time and building strong relationships with vendors who offer weekend support are crucial for success. Additionally, staying organized and proactively confirming inventory availability can help prevent delays and ensure projects stay on track. Collaboration with design team members and clear documentation of all purchases are also key to streamlining the procurement process over the weekend.

Based out of our Marietta, Georgia office, you'll manage a defined multi-state territory throughout the South and Southeast while serving as the face of Design Environments to commercial clients, developers, architects, and industry partners.

This is a highly collaborative role that combines strategic business development with consultative selling. You'll partner closely with our Design Department and Sales Leadership to transform client needs into winning solutions while growing both new and existing accounts.

You Will:

  • Travel up to 60% of the time, conducting client meetings, presentations, jobsite visits, and networking opportunities throughout your territory.
  • Represent Design Environments at national trade shows, conferences, and industry events while identifying new opportunities and market trends.
  • Develop and expand relationships with commercial businesses, national homebuilders, multi-family and student housing developers, senior living operators, architects, and industry partners.
  • Execute a balanced sales strategy by aggressively pursuing new business while expanding existing client relationships and increasing account penetration.
  • Partner closely with the Design Department during the discovery and intake process to align client vision with creative solutions and project capabilities.
  • Establish clear expectations and upfront agreements with clients regarding budgets, timelines, project scope, and decision-making processes.
  • Utilize CRM tools to maintain accurate pipeline management, forecast opportunities, and track daily sales activities and behaviors.
  • Collaborate with Sales Leadership and Design teams to develop compelling proposals and deliver exceptional client experiences.
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities to help shape territory strategy.
  • Meet or exceed individual and team revenue goals while consistently demonstrating proactive business development behaviors.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Interior Design, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive sales experience within commercial interiors, contract furniture manufacturing, or a closely related design/build industry.
  • Proven success in consultative outside sales with experience independently managing a large regional territory.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with interior designers, architects, procurement teams, and creative professionals.
  • Strong relationship-building, presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to confidently ask discovery questions around budgets, timelines, and decision-making processes to maximize project success.
  • Professional presence with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to reliably commute to the Marietta, GA office at least once per week between travel commitments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 60% throughout the assigned territory and nationally for industry events.

What's In It For You:

  • Competitive base salary
  • Performance-based bonus structure tied to territory growth, account expansion, and milestone achievements
  • Comprehensive health benefits and 401(k) with company match
  • PTO plus paid holidays
  • Opportunity to help grow an expanding national commercial interiors brand
  • Collaborative culture that values creativity, partnership, accountability, and innovation
