Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking an Intellectual Property Litigation Associate to join a growing and sophisticated IP litigation practice. This opportunity is ideal for a high-performing attorney with patent litigation experience and a technical background who is looking to work on complex intellectual property disputes in a collaborative and dynamic environment.Locations

This position is open to the firm's offices in:

  • Boston, MA
  • Chicago, IL
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • New York, NY
  • Washington, D.C.

The ideal candidate will have 3โ€“5 years of patent litigation experience and a background in electrical or mechanical engineering. A B.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in sophisticated patent litigation matters
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation-related filings
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Participate in oral arguments, hearings, and motion practice
  • Assist with trial preparation and trial proceedings
  • Collaborate closely with clients, experts, and litigation teams on case strategy
  • Analyze complex technical and legal issues related to patent disputes
Qualifications
  • 3โ€“5 years of patent litigation experience
  • Background in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering required
  • BSEE or BSME preferred
  • Experience taking and/or defending depositions
  • Trial experience preferred
  • Experience with brief writing and oral motion practice
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Active bar admission in the jurisdiction of practice required
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary range: $205,000 โ€“ $225,000
  • 4x4 Hybrid Model (in-office Wednesdays plus four additional in-office days per month)
