Job description

Position Summary:

3rd Shift Set Up Technician - Sets up and starts production machinery as required to meet schedules and customer commitments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains cycle and process integrity with the direction of the Production Supervisor.
  • Works with support department to ensure tools, machines and processes are consistent with established process.
  • Maintain documentation and paperwork to support production cycles and procedures.
  • Takes training from Senior Setup personnel and Process Technicians to enhance knowledge and experience in all aspects of the production floor.
  • Performs setups and other production related duties to maintain production schedules and on time delivery of parts to customers.
  • Works on all presses as production requirements dictate.
  • Assist with training new personnel as necessary.
  • Keeps work area cleaned and maintained.

Required Competencies, Skills, and Experience

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, plastic injection molding experience required.
  • Shows mechanical aptitude and show an ability to learn and practice correct molding and setup methods.
  • Displays a good attitude towards learning new jobs and procedures and work towards minimal supervision needed to accomplish daily duties.
  • Capable of interfacing with team members as needed and direct as required by production schedules.
  • Must be able to read machine dial gauges and interfaces on injection molding machine.
  • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

Education and Job Experience Requirements

  • 2-5 years of set up experience REQUIRED.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Must complete all levels of Paulson Training.
  • Available to training in new equipment and machinery as they are procured. Keeping education and background up to current industry standards through willingness to attend seminars, read periodicals and seek advanced education.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • High noise levels from operating machines.
  • Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
  • Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
  • Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
  • Exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Exert 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently.
  • Exert up to 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
