A Weekend Infusion RN is a registered nurse who administers intravenous (IV) therapies, medications, and treatments to patients during weekends. Responsibilities include monitoring patients for reactions, maintaining IV access, and educating patients about their treatments. This role requires strong IV skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. It is ideal for nurses seeking flexible weekend hours while providing critical care to patients requiring infusion services.
As a Weekend Infusion RN, you will primarily administer intravenous medications, monitor patients for side effects, and educate them about their treatment plans—often in outpatient clinics, specialty centers, or sometimes patients' homes. The work environment is usually focused and patient-centered, with collaboration between RNs, pharmacists, and physicians, especially for complex cases. Since the role is concentrated on weekends, you may work more independently and manage a smaller, more specialized patient load. About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated Chemotherapy / Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract opportunity in Robinson, Illinois. The RN will provide direct patient care in an infusion setting, administer chemotherapy and infusion therapies, monitor patient responses, and ensure safe, high-quality care while collaborating with the healthcare team.
ResponsibilitiesAdminister chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, and IV infusion treatments as prescribed.
Initiate and maintain peripheral IVs and central venous access devices safely.
Perform patient assessments, monitor treatment responses, and communicate changes to providers.
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
Maintain accurate EMR documentation and follow all oncology safety and infection control protocols.
Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification required.
Minimum 1 year of Infusion RN experience preferred.
Experience with chemotherapy administration and Cerner EMR preferred.
