Job description

Job Title: Junior Cybersecurity Analyst

Location: Chicago, IL

Job Type: Only W2

Job Description:

·       Monitor security alerts and events using SIEM and security monitoring tools.

·       Perform initial investigation and triage of suspected security incidents.

·       Analyze logs from endpoints, servers, firewalls, applications, and network devices.

·       Escalate confirmed or high-risk incidents to senior security analysts.

·       Assist with incident response and containment activities.

·       Investigate phishing emails, suspicious URLs, malware alerts, and unusual user activity.

·       Perform basic vulnerability assessment and remediation tracking.

·       Assist with endpoint security and antivirEDR monitoring.

·       Document security incidents, investigations, and resolutions.

·       Participate in threat-hunting and security monitoring activities.

·       Support security audits, compliance activities, and security awareness initiatives.

·       Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

·       Bachelor''s degree or diploma in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

·       0–2 years of experience in cybersecurity, SOC, IT security, or a related field.

·       Basic understanding of:

·       Networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, and firewalls.

·       Windows and Linux operating systems.

·       Cybersecurity concepts and common attack techniques.

·       Security logs and event analysis.

·       Incident response and security monitoring.

·       Familiarity with SIEM platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, IBM QRadar, or Elastic Security is an advantage.

·       Basic knowledge of endpoint security/EDR tools.

·       Good analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

·       Willingness to work in shifts, including night/weekend shifts, if required.
