POSITION SUMMARY

An NDE Helper's main function is to learn all aspects of inspection services from a technician. They perform 

equipment setup and calibrations and make evaluations under the direction of a certified NDE technician for the 

applicable NDE being performed or trained for.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Assist with nondestructive testing equipment setup.

Assist in calibrating nondestructive testing equipment.

Assist in applying testing criteria in accordance with procedures and standards.

Assist in preforming other job-related tasks as assigned by certified inspector/technician.

Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines, policies, and regulations.

Record results of tests and inspection under direct supervision from the training NDE Technician.

Measure dimensions of defects to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such 

as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers under direct supervision of training NDE Technician.

Notify supervisors or other personnel of production or quality problems.

Write test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs under direct 

supervision of training NDE Technician.

Compare colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products or materials with color charts, templates, or 

samples to verify conformance to standards under direct supervision of training NDE Technician.

Position products, components, or parts for testing.

Stack or arrange tested products for further processing, shipping, or packaging.

Adjust, clean, or repair products or processing equipment to correct defects found during inspections.

Perform other duties as assigned.
