We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!

As a Data Engineer at Disney Experiences, you will assist in designing, building, and overseeing the deployment of technology architecture, solutions, and software aimed at capturing, managing, and utilizing structured and unstructured data from various sources. This role is designed for professionals who are passionate about data engineering and can work effectively within a collaborative team environment.

This role will report to the Sr. Manager of Data Engineering.

This is a Full-Time Role.

What You Will Do:

Assist in designing, building, and overseeing the deployment of technology architecture, solutions, and software aimed at capturing, managing, and utilizing structured and unstructured data from various sources.

Support the development of processes and structures to efficiently channel, route, and store data, considering business and technical requirements and utilizing cloud and local storage solutions as necessary.

Contribute to applying technical tools and programming for data cleansing, organization, transformation, and maintenance, with a focus on incorporating automation and advanced techniques like big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

Participate in establishing design standards and assurance processes for software and systems development to ensure data compatibility, operability, and integrity throughout data connections, flows, and storage systems.

Collaborate on reviewing internal and external business and product requirements to align data operations and activities with organizational objectives and needs.

Stay up to date with emerging technologies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

May be required to provide support escalation, coordinate ongoing operations, and support the enhancement of existing tools as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum 3 years of related work experience in data engineering or a related field.

Understanding and hands-on experience with SQL, Python, Java, and/or VBA for effective data manipulation and analysis.

Familiarity with relational databases and NoSQL databases (e.g., Snowflake, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, HBase, Cassandra), with the ability to work with data across various storage systems.

Demonstrated ability to contribute across multiple phases of development for complex projects, including technical design, implementation, and end-to-end testing.

Passionate about delivering data engineering projects collaboratively, with a strong commitment to achieving team goals.

Effective troubleshooting skills, capable of identifying and resolving sophisticated issues with sound judgment and initiative.

Adaptable to agile environments, comfortable with changing requirements and effective collaboration across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Queuing Technology: Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, SQS, Kinesis Streams, Kinesis Firehose

Data Processing: EMR, Spark, Glue, Spark Streaming/Flink

Containers: Docker, Docker Swarm, Docker Applications

CI/CD: Jenkins, Codebuild, GitLab

Security: IAM roles, wire encryption, KMS, Kerberos, Authz, AD

Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Cloud Formation, CDK

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience Required.

The hiring range for this position in Orlando, FL is $101,800.00-$136,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
