Job description

Division/Department: Old Tucson Entertainment - Nightfall
Job Title: Scare Actor
Reports To: Cast Supervisor
Type of position: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Employee Classification: Seasonal
Compensation: $15.15 - $17.00 per hour
Job Summary:
Scare Actors will be portraying various characters and monsters in the attractions at Nightfall. Scare Actors will be working in a specific location as specific characters with various lines of dialogue or movement patterns but will be required at times to adjust throughout their various attractions. Scare Actors will also be working in an environment where direct interaction with audience members of all ages will be essential to achieve the desired feel of the event. Scare actors will move throughout their various attractions to designated areas where they will attempt to scare audience members without physically touching them, or physically harming them.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Memorization and performance of approved dialogue and physical motions
  • Learn attraction staging and scare areas.
  • Understand attractions story and meaning to overarching story in the park.
  • Receive new dialogue and memorize in a timely manner.
  • Become familiar with other assigned attractions movements, dialogue and scare locations.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, positive, and inclusive working environment and advise management with related concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skill, and Work Experience Requirements:
  • Ability to work up to long days with prolonged standing.
  • Prior scare/haunt experience
  • Prior work in theme park events and non-traditional performance environments
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptive to an ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to make repetitive motions over extended periods of time.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays and late hours as production schedule may dictate.
  • Commitment to working under shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.

Work Environment:
  • Standing, walking, and running in locations with unbalanced footing.
  • Varying temperatures and weather conditions; both indoor and outdoor.
  • Ability to work in environments with strobe lights, darkness, enclosed spaces, loud music, sound effects, and fog-filled environments.
  • Most acting positions require repetitive movement.
  • Ability to follow guidance from team leads.
  • Fast paced and exciting environment.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work required.
