Shift: 9x80 Schedule (Every other Friday off); primarily 1st shift with occasional 2nd?shift and weekend work as required by program needs.
Pay: Dependent on experience POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role is for an ElectroMechanical Staff Engineer IV supporting the Orion spacecraft as the avionics harness technical lead at Kennedy Space Center. You will oversee harness fabrication and installation, provide hands?on floor support for integration of wiring products, and serve as the Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) for the harness subsystem, ensuring flight hardware meets all technical and program requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Oversee harness fabrication and harness installation, including instrumentation/sensor installation for flight hardware on Orion spacecraft. Support Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations (ATLO) in determining sequence of build for harnesses and resolving fabrication issues during build and integration. Serve as Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) for the harness subsystem, including review of top?level requirements, cable routing support, product and material selection, and certification of flight products to the program. Provide floor support for electrical integration of wiring products, troubleshoot discrepant hardware, and provide engineering dispositions on Q?notes; support troubleshooting and correction of anomalies. Review, provide feedback on, and sign off engineering drawings; create and review mass, current, and voltage analyses and related documentation. Support team by providing guidance on build issues, integration concerns, and engineering best practices for harness design and installation. Report harness build and integration status to program personnel and leadership; interface routinely with program, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines. Mentor and oversee lower?level design engineers and assist with training and onboarding; support and lead tabletop design reviews. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education. Significant experience with electrical harness design, including fabrication, test, and integration in an aerospace environment. Experience using 3D modeling tools for harness routing and integration. Proficiency using engineering analysis and presentation tools. Demonstrated ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings and specifications. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to clearly communicate electrical harness design, test, and integration principles to technicians, manufacturing engineers, and other stakeholders. Experience leading or mentoring junior personnel and completing tasks through others in a production or integration environment. Strong troubleshooting skills for anomalous or discrepant hardware and experience issuing/disposing of Q?notes or similar discrepancy documentation. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage time effectively, and communicate status and issues clearly to leadership.
