Job Title: Engineering Technician (Shift / Weekends Required)

Locations: Phoenix, Arizona (700 N 55th Ave Building B Phoenix, AZ 85004)


[Job Summary]

The Engineering Technician plays a critical role in maintaining battery production stability and providing direct support for the core projects led by the engineering team. This position focuses on defect inventory management, assisting in mass production troubleshooting, and supporting customer audit readiness. A key aspect of this role is collecting field data to provide the foundation for design improvements and Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) feedback.


[Key Responsibilities]

1. Production Troubleshooting & Equipment Support

First-Response Support: Assist engineers in diagnosing root causes and performing immediate recovery tasks when equipment or process issues arise on the line.

Rework Execution: Perform precise rework on Electrical, HVAC, and Mechanical parts, as well as Communication/PLC components, following engineering guidelines.

Data Logging: Document all defect items and troubleshooting histories to provide engineers with accurate data for trend analysis.


2. Defect Inventory & Quality Control

Material Management: Manage defect inventory lists for both ESS and materials, ensuring 100% consistency between physical stock and data records.

Disposition Execution: Physically segregate and process materials according to engineering dispositions.

5S3R Standards: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, specifically for NG and inventory storage areas, in accordance with 5S3R standards.


3. Collaboration for Design Improvement

DFM Feedback: Monitor recurring rework or process bottlenecks and provide feedback to engineers to support DFM improvements.

Trial Support: Assist in field testing and data collection for new parts or modified processes proposed by the development team.


4. Customer Audit & Documentation Support

Audit Readiness: Prepare the facility for customer visits by verifying enclosure/pack availability and ensuring a defect-free visual environment.

Document Maintenance: Assist in updating and managing on-site versions of SOPs, Quality Alerts, and Rework Guides created by engineers.


[Qualifications & Skills]

  • Education/Experience: High School Diploma or Associate Degree in a technical field preferred, with 1โ€“3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand tools and experience operating HMI and electronic systems.
  • Communication: Ability to clearly report field issues to engineers and communicate effectively across departments.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills to detect minor defects and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
