Job Summary

The Grounds & Equipment Operator maintains golf course and landscaping around the course, clubhouse, and other Club facilities, including, but not limited to, Club parking lots, grass on tee boxes, fairways, roughs, fringes, and greens; in accordance with safe operating standards policies and procedures established by The Country Club of Mobile. 


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains landscape beds around clubhouse and Club grounds.
  • Trims trees; removes cuttings.
  • Rakes and blows leaves, rakes bunkers.
  • Prepares and lays sod.
  • Repairs and maintains driving range tees.
  • Cleans equipment used in practice area.
  • Operates both riding and walk-behind equipment after being certified on their proper use, time to use them and areas to use them, and safety. 
  • Aerifies and spikes greens.
  • Helps with drainage projects.
  • Empties garbage cans.
  • Attends staff and safety meetings.
  • Assists with unloading of work trucks and delivery trucks and loads and unloads materials.
  • Assists with site set up of plant materials. 
  • Maintains job site area clean and organized and safe. 
  • Uses all tools according to Club safety policy. 
  • Follows safety protocols and processes, ensuring any PPE is worn when handling equipment.  
  • Reads and follows instructions on chemical labels.
  • Must adhere personally and always preserve and maintain the tangible and intangible assets of the Club.
  • Follows CCM mission and values, including providing the best quality service possible. “Service with a Smile” is a key element in providing a positive experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include overtime and holiday’s if necessary. 
  • Consistent and prompt attendance. 
  • Knowledge preferred but not required of operating outdoor grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Performs quality work within deadlines.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with employees, members, and guests.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years’ experience in similar role a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body. 
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs., with or without accommodation. 
  • Requires long periods of time standing, walking, frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching. 
  • Will be exposed to outside weather conditions including high temperatures.
  • Will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is high.
