Position Summary:

The Grounds Crew member is responsible for maintaining the golf course grounds, ensuring the course is presented in pristine condition for play. This position involves a combination of manual labor, equipment operation, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the aesthetic and functional quality of the course.


Department: Grounds & Facilities

Reports to: Director of Grounds & Facilities/ AGM

Supervises: None

Employment Status: Seasonal


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate walk-behind and riding mowers to maintain greens, tees, fairways, and roughs to the highest standards.
  • Rake and maintain bunkers to ensure they are properly shaped and playable.
  • Assist in golf course setup, including running small equipment such as edgers, blowers, and weed eaters.
  • Perform manual labor tasks, including digging, pushing, cutting, carrying, crouching, and pulling.
  • Collaborate in course and capital projects involving construction.
  • Work effectively in a team environment while ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain equipment in proper working order.
  • Support general landscaping tasks, such as trimming shrubs, removing debris, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required.
  • Previous golf course maintenance or landscaping experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and address areas needing improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Frequent lifting and carrying of materials up to 50 lbs., along with regular bending, crouching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, walk on uneven terrain, and safely operate equipment.
  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Exposure to loud noises, dust, pollen, and chemicals/fertilizers used in course maintenance.
