Indian Creek Country Club, in Miami, Florida, is seeking an exceptional Head Equipment Manager. Reporting directly to the Director of Agronomy, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of equipment maintenance, shop operations, budgeting, inventory management, technician development, and long-term equipment planning while managing a nearly $5 million equipment fleet.

Following the unexpected partial loss of the maintenance facility due to fire, the maintenance team is currently operating from temporary facilities, creating a unique opportunity for the next Head Equipment Manager to make an immediate impact. Beyond restoring and elevating day-to-day operational excellence, this individual will play an instrumental role in planning and transitioning into a state-of-the‑art maintenance facility in the coming years. This is far more than a traditional mechanic position. It is an opportunity for a polished leader to develop people, modernize preventive maintenance practices, and help shape the future of one of the country’s premier golf operations.     • In Season (November-April): 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
    • Out of Season (May-October): 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (some weeks until 4:00 PM depending on course closure practices)

Initial Priorities of the Position:

  • Evaluate and modernize the club’s preventative maintenance program.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair all golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Assess the current shop operation and collaborate on future facility improvements.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop assistant technicians.
  • Establish best‑in‑class recordkeeping, inventory management, budgeting, and vendor relationships.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all golf course equipment.
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel, gasoline, hybrid, and electric equipment.
  • Perform engine rebuilds, hydraulic repairs, electrical diagnostics, transmission work, reel grinding, and precision mower setup.
  • Maintain proper cutting unit performance through grinding, sharpening, adjustments, and quality control.
  • Respond quickly to emergency equipment failures to minimize downtime.

Shop Management

  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient maintenance facility.
  • Establish inventory controls for parts, fluids, tools, and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair histories, equipment lifecycle data, and labor tracking.
  • Oversee warranty claims and vendor relationships.
  • Assist in capital equipment planning and replacement schedules.

Leadership

  • Supervise and develop the Assistant Equipment Technician and Equipment Technician.
  • Create training programs and standard operating procedures.
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with the Director of Agronomy and Golf Course Superintendent to prioritize equipment readiness.

Technical Skills

The successful candidate demonstrates expertise in:

  • Diesel, gasoline, and small engine repair
  • Electrical systems
  • Reel and bedknife grinding
  • Fabrication and welding
  • Pumps and irrigation‑related equipment

  • Inventory control

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Comfortable working in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4‑7+ years of equipment management experience in golf course maintenance.
  • Certificate, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in Turf Equipment Technology, Diesel Technology, Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Equivalent experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Experience supervising and developing technicians.
  • Strong computer skills and experience utilizing fleet management software.
  • OEM certifications, GCSAA Equipment Manager Certificate Program, TETAC certifications, or similar professional credentials are highly encouraged.
