We are seeking an experienced GIS Specialist Production to support the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in Sacramento, California. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team of GIS professionals delivering enterprise-level geospatial solutions that support important government initiatives.

This is a full-time, on-site position supporting a long-term federal contract.

So, what will the GIS Specialist Production at Terrestris do?

The GIS Specialist Production will provide advanced GIS production support, database management, cartographic services, and enterprise geospatial solutions. The successful candidate will work independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary GIS team to develop, maintain, and improve geospatial databases, mapping products, workflows, and enterprise GIS systems.

What does a typical day look like for the GIS Specialist Production?

You will:

  • Develop, maintain, and update enterprise GIS databases and mapping products.
  • Perform advanced GIS analysis using ArcGIS Pro and Spatial Analyst.
  • Design and maintain enterprise geodatabase schemas and workflow procedures.
  • Coordinate with hardware and software vendors regarding GIS technologies.
  • Implement and monitor GIS quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures.
  • Review, approve, and release final GIS databases, maps, reports, and deliverables.
  • Assist with GIS user account administration, project setup, security, and project accounting.
  • Manage GPS and other GIS data collection technologies.
  • Monitor GIS system backups and data integrity.
  • Provide technical guidance to GIS associates and data technicians.
  • Support enterprise GIS initiatives and continuous process improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, natural resource specialists, and project stakeholders.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the professional we're looking for if you have:

  • The ability to work in the United States permanently, without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Natural Resources Management, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional GIS experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following:
    • Python
  • Arcade
  • ModelBuilder
  • Strong proficiency using:
    • ArcGIS Pro
  • ArcGIS Spatial Analyst
  • ArcGIS Online
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Cartography
  • Geographic analysis
  • Mapping principles
  • Spatial data management
  • Experience developing and maintaining enterprise geodatabases.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting collaborative project teams.
