Job Description

This entry-level general laborer role supports the painting team on 2nd shift by performing a variety of tasks in the yard and weld shop, including surface preparation, buffing, cleaning, and handling materials. You will help ensure products are properly prepped and ready for painting by following work orders, assisting with loading and unloading, and maintaining a clean and organized production area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general labor tasks in the yard and weld shop to support painting operations.
  • Prepare products for painting by buffing, sanding, and other surface preparation activities.
  • Load and unload products and materials safely and efficiently.
  • Follow work orders and production instructions accurately to complete tasks in the correct sequence.
  • Assist with basic assembly tasks as needed to support the production process.
  • Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment to ensure a safe and organized workspace.
  • Work collaboratively with painters and other team members to meet production goals.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while working in a weld shop and non–climate-controlled environment.
  • Support general production activities as assigned by supervisors to keep operations running smoothly.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to perform general labor tasks in a production or industrial environment.
  • Capability to complete prep work for painters, including buffing and surface preparation.
  • Experience or comfort with loading and unloading products and materials.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work orders and production instructions.
  • Willingness and physical ability to perform cleaning and basic assembly tasks.
  • Ability to work consistently on 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
  • Comfort working in a non–climate-controlled environment and weld shop setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in general labor, production, or manufacturing environments is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and equipment used in prep and cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic, with a focus on meeting production schedules.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and support different areas of the production process as needed.
Why Work Here?

You will join a hands-on, production-focused environment where you can gain valuable industrial experience and develop practical skills in painting support, general labor, and production processes. The 4-day workweek on 2nd shift offers a consistent schedule, allowing for regular long weekends and predictable hours. You will work alongside a supportive team that values safety, reliability, and teamwork, providing a solid foundation for growth in manufacturing and industrial roles.

Work Environment

This role is based in a weld shop and yard environment that is not climate controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. You will work a 2nd shift schedule from Monday through Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. The work involves standing, walking, lifting, and handling materials throughout the shift, as well as working around welding, production, and painting operations.
