Job description

Position Summary
Atlas Survival Shelters is seeking an experienced Flux Welder to join our fabrication team building heavy-duty underground bunkers and structural steel components. This role is responsible for producing high-strength welds using flux-core processes to meet strict safety, durability, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities Fitter

  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication plans
  • Measure, cut, and fit metal components to exact specifications
  • Align structures and components using jigs, clamps, and layout tools
  • Assist welders by prepping materials and ensuring proper fit-up
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances before welding begins
  • Operate fabrication tools (grinders, torches, saws, etc.)
  • Perform tack welding when required (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety procedures and company standards

Fitter Requirements

  • Experience as a fitter, fabricator, or in a welding environment
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and measurements
  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication and layout techniques
  • Skilled in using hand tools and shop equipment
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a shop environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented

Fitter Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in structural steel or heavy fabrication
  • Basic welding skills (MIG, TIG, or Stick)
  • Experience working with large-scale builds (tanks, pipes, bunkers, etc.)

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
  • AWS certification or equivalent experience is a plus
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a fast-paced production setting
