This position is contingent upon contract award


The AH-64 Instructor/Operator (I/O) supports simulator training operations for the Warfighter-Training Readiness Solutions (W-TRS) program. I/Os provide academic and simulator instruction to AH-64 aircrew in all facets of AH-64E operations, ensuring safe, effective, and standards-based training in support of U.S. Army and partner-nation requirements. I/Os must demonstrate a high level of instructional proficiency, in-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, and a strong understanding of military manuals, aviation standards, engineering data, and related operational documentation as required for simulator-based flight training and evaluation.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain liaison with supported aviation customers to coordinate simulator scheduling and training requirements.
  • Prepare simulator flight-hour utilization and scheduling reports; submit to the Assisted Acquisition (AAS) COR and designated unit representatives within five working days after the end of each month.
  • Support host-nation briefings and demonstrations of the simulator.
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight simulator inspections, including scheduled and unscheduled inspections requiring I/O involvement. Perform operational readiness checks and simulator maintenance test flights. Report all deficiencies to maintenance personnel and the AAS COR.
  • Track individual pilot simulator flight hours using DA Form 2408-12 or host-nation formats when required. Maintain records until pilot departure from the unit and provide monthly updates within five working days or upon request.
  • Develop and maintain a flight-simulator training Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) describing qualifications, responsibilities, and procedures for comprehensive training and evaluation; ensure SOP meets AAS COR approval.
  • Provide Instructor Pilot services, including aircraft systems instruction, instrument flight, mission scenario execution, flight management system operation, and emergency procedures.
  • Provide IOS services, including instrument flight support, mission-scenario execution, emergency procedures, fault insertion, ATC simulation services, and simulator weather/environment control.
  • Deliver flight instruction, in-flight evaluation, examinations, and associated training services. Determine required training objectives, evaluation criteria, and subjects to be taught. Train pilots to U.S. Army or host-nation standards IAW applicable aviation publications and regulations.
  • Check in scheduled aircrews upon arrival and provide mission-scenario loads, weather data, current flight-planning information, and any mission materials needed for the training period.
  • Ensure aircrews have required operational publications, technical manuals, forms, and other flight-planning documentation needed for training; maintain and utilize official flight information publications and technical materials provided by the U.S. Government or host nation.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • Fort Rucker–trained Instructor Pilot, with significant military experience and prior I/O experience on AH-64E V2 simulators within the past three years
  • Active DoD Security Clearance Required
  • AH-64E V2 qualified Instructor.
  • Specific knowledge and experience operating and controlling the Instructor Operator Station (IOS) for mission planning, setup, control, monitoring, and After-Action Reviews (AAR).
  • Must have a U.S. Passport and meet all visa requirements for duty in the Republic of Korea.
