Job Summary:
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting aerospace and defense components and assemblies to ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, industry standards, and internal quality requirements. This role supports production by performing detailed inspections throughout the manufacturing process and helping maintain compliance with applicable quality systems, including AS9100 and customer-specific requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of machined and manufactured components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, work instructions, and quality requirements.
  • Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, comparators, and other inspection tools.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy and product conformity to aerospace and defense standards.
  • Complete inspection reports, quality documentation, and records accurately and timely.
  • Identify and document nonconforming material and assist with containment activities.
  • Ensure traceability and documentation requirements are maintained for aerospace and defense products.
  • Conduct visual inspections for workmanship, surface finish, marking, and packaging requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Follow all company safety, security, and confidentiality requirements, including handling of controlled information and export-controlled products where applicable.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards preferred.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
  • Basic understanding of SPC, inspection sampling, and quality documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in manufacturing, quality, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of QC inspection experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment such as bore gages, pin gages, micrometers, calipers,
  • Aerospace, defense, medical device, or precision machining experience strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, feel/reach with hands/arms, talk and hear.
The employee frequently is required to sit and walk. The employee is occasionally required to bend and stop, push and pull, reach above shoulder level, kneel, squat, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
