Community Support Worker - The Grove

Chilliwack, BC | Full-Time & Casual Opportunities
$26.52 per hour

Ruth & Naomi's Mission is seeking compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Community Support Workers to join our team at The Grove Older Adults Shelter.

As a Community Support Worker, you'll help create a safe, welcoming, and hope-filled environment for older adults experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Working alongside a dedicated team, you'll build meaningful relationships, respond to participant needs, support day-to-day shelter operations, and help connect individuals with appropriate community resources.

What You'll Do

Build positive, respectful relationships with participants through trauma-informed engagement
Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming shelter environment
Monitor participant wellbeing and respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies
De-escalate conflict while maintaining professional boundaries
Complete incident reports and communicate effectively with team members
Administer First Aid and contact emergency services when required
Perform regular cleaning and sanitation throughout the shelter
Support participants by providing encouragement, information, and referrals to community services

What You'll Bring

Certificate or diploma in a social services field or equivalent related experience
Understanding of homelessness, addiction, mental health, and trauma-informed care
Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in crisis situations
First Aid, Food Safe, Naloxone, and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain)
A compassionate, respectful, and hopeful approach to supporting others

Compensation & Benefits

$26.52 per hour
