The Opportunity:
CACI is excited to announce an opportunity for a Part-Time, Fire Protection Engineer to join our dynamic team on-site at our Bethesda location. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a robust background in fire protection engineering, particularly someone with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy construction projects. The hours expected for this role will vary from 10-20 hours per week but may increase depending on customer needs and skillset of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:
Design and Analysis:
- Develop and review fire protection system designs in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and analyses for fire protection systems.
Compliance and Codes:
- Ensure all designs and installations comply with OPNAVINST 11320.23G, NFPA standards, and other relevant fire protection codes.
- Stay updated on changes in fire protection regulations and codes.
Project Management:
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate fire protection systems into overall project plans for Navy infrastructure and buildings.
- Provide technical support and guidance during the installation and commissioning phases.
Documentation:
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings in compliance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
- Maintain accurate records of all fire protection system designs and modifications.
Consultation:
- Offer expert advice on fire protection strategies and solutions to internal and external stakeholders, including Navy personnel.
Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver training programs for Navy personnel on fire safety and protection in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection.
  • Degree in Fire Protection Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering.
  • Strong understanding of fire protection codes and standards, including OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desired:
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Hydraflow, FlowMaster). Previous experience in a similar role within the Navy or supporting Navy infrastructure and buildings.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
