How much do weekend finance jobs pay per year?
What is a Weekend Finance?
A Weekend Finance job typically involves handling financial tasks such as budgeting, reporting, or accounting over the weekend. These roles are common in industries that require financial operations outside regular business hours, such as banking, trading, or hospitality. Responsibilities may include processing transactions, monitoring financial data, or providing support for financial decisions. It is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work schedules or part-time finance opportunities.
What are the typical responsibilities of a Weekend Finance professional, and how do they differ from weekday finance roles?
A Weekend Finance professional is typically tasked with overseeing financial transactions, processing accounting entries, preparing reports, and addressing urgent financial issues that arise outside of standard business hours. Unlike weekday finance staff, weekend roles often involve working independently and handling time-sensitive tasks to ensure business continuity and compliance over the weekend. The position may also include supporting client queries, reconciling accounts, or collaborating with customer service and operations teams to resolve any immediate concerns. These responsibilities help ensure financial operations run smoothly without interruption, providing critical support to organizations with extended or continuous business hours.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Weekend Finance position, and why are they important?
To excel in a Weekend Finance role, candidates should possess strong analytical abilities, experience with financial reporting, and a background in accounting or finance, often supported by a relevant degree or previous related experience. Familiarity with financial management software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Excel, as well as knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards, is often essential. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly are valuable soft skills in this position. These competencies ensure efficient financial operations over weekends, helping businesses maintain accurate records and meet deadlines even outside of standard business hours.

The business generates approximately $100 million in annual recycled metals revenue and continues to support Reworld's growth, sustainability, and operational performance objectives through metals recovery, byproduct optimization, and facility-level execution.
Responsibilities:
Financial Planning, Business Partnership, and Performance Management

- Develop and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and financial models that provide visibility into key business drivers and operating performance.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis by coordinating inputs, validating assumptions, and preparing clear financial summaries for review.
- Track performance against budget, forecast, and operational targets, and help identify cost drivers, margin impacts, forecast changes, and follow-up actions.
- Support the recurring financial operating cadence, including forecast updates, KPI reviews, management reporting, operating reviews, and follow-up tracking.
- Partner with engineering, operations, and facility leadership to analyze capital planning needs, project economics, productivity initiatives, and operational improvement opportunities.
- Review capital requests and business cases for financial assumptions, return expectations, risk considerations, and alignment with approved business priorities.
- Prepare professional reporting packages, financial narratives, business insights, and recommended follow-up actions for management review.
- Communicate value drivers, risks, opportunities, and tradeoffs in a clear and practical manner for finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Provide forward-looking analysis that supports cost control, margin visibility, working capital improvement, and operational decision-making.
- Identify and quantify risks and opportunities, and recommend practical actions that support profitability, cash flow, controls, and business performance.
- Support financial analysis, special projects, and continuous improvement efforts that improve operating effectiveness and finance process consistency.
Controllership, Reporting, Controls, and Operational Finance Execution
- Support a strong controllership environment by following accounting policies, internal controls, approval requirements, audit expectations, and financial governance standards.
- Help improve finance process maturity by strengthening reconciliations, reporting routines, control documentation, and approval workflows.
- Manage financial monitoring, reconciliation, and reporting of commodity inventory, shipments, yields, recoveries, and operating expenses.
- Analyze facility KPIs to explain trends, surface performance drivers, and support timely corrective action.
- Support month-end close by validating results, reviewing account support, preparing or reviewing journal entry documentation, and partnering with the Shared Service Center for timely reporting.
- Perform variance analysis and investigative reviews to support the integrity, completeness, and transparency of financial results.
- Review accruals, reserves, cut-off, inventory valuation, cost allocations, reconciliations, and key estimates for accuracy and supportability.
- Monitor subcontractor labor billing, plant operating statistics, production models, purchasing reports, and open purchase order follow-up.
- Partner with procurement, operations, and accounting to support spend governance, invoice accuracy, accrual completeness, and cost-control discipline.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 5+ years of relevant finance or accounting experience, preferably with exposure to an operating plant, manufacturing, recycling, commodities, or industrial environment
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial controls, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, month-end close, and management reporting
- Experience supporting financial processes, partnering with business stakeholders, and presenting results, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to management
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, financial review routines, and variance analysis for an operating business or facility
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting automation capabilities
- PowerPoint proficiency with the ability to prepare clear, professional presentations and concise business narratives
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, coordinate cross-functional inputs, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or CPA preferred
- Experience with PeopleSoft or a similar ERP system
- Experience with Oracle Smart View is a plus
- Experience supporting plant start-up activities is helpful
- Experience using AI-enabled tools for productivity, analysis, documentation, presentations, project tracking, and decision support

- Based at the corporate office in Florham Park, NJ, with at least one day per week onsite.
- Expected to travel to the Morrisville, PA plant two to three days per week.
- Eligible for one work-from-home day per week, based on business needs and leadership alignment.
