Job description

Ellwood Specialty Metals Company is the leading distributor and a fully-integrated producer of tool steels for plastic molds, die cast and forging dies and other tooling applications. Our steel and aluminum are used to make countless parts for automobiles, aircraft, and consumer products.

As part of our evolving needs and in response to rapid growth, we currently have an opening for a full time non exempt Industrial Maintenance position.  

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, this position will report directly to the head of maintenance. This position will be responsible for the maintenance, and preventative maintenance of all saws, forklifts, cranes, and machine shop equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observes all safety rules and regulations and meets all safety program requirements.
  • Maintains work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition per the house keeping policy.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repair work, and preventative maintenance activities on production machinery, overhead cranes, equipment, instrumentation, and infrastructure to sustain plant operations at a highly efficient levels.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical problems to determine and correct root cause of problem or failure.
  • Welding and able to repair mobile equipment.
  • Minimum plant and office maintenance.
  • Keep records of all repairs and inspections complaint to OSHA standards.
  • Ability to communicate with outside vendors for maintenance help.
  • Maintain, organize, and order supplies for the maintenance department.
  • Train the trainer for forklift, and LOTO for the shop.
  • Strong knowledge in power distribution and motor control with the ability to make repairs on 480V systems.
  • Abide by all policies and procedures established by the company.
  • Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair or service electronic devices and systems.
  • Be able to troubleshoot electrical components, PLC’s and controls
  • Interacts with operations personnel to fully identify details of equipment malfunction/failure in order to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities including but not limited to troubleshooting and repairs of electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, PLC’s, overhead cranes, and welding.
  • Able to work weekends, ability to travel and be on call as needed.
  • Communication: good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Some Computer Skills: Word, Excel, EPR Systems.
  • Strong math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems efficiently and make decisions.
  • Ability to read machining blueprints.
  • Self-starter. Ability to work without guidance.
