Job description


JOB DESCRIPTION:

The entry level General Factory position accomplishes a variety of functions within the operation to ensure that safety, quality, productivity, and communications standards are met and maintained. This current opportunity will work mainly alongside the Die Cutting Department to breakout, remove waste from die cut sheets, palletize, tag and wrap loads, operate/maintain Baler, and tie bales.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1st Shift
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime.

JOB FUNCTIONS:Job functions include, but are not limited to the following

  • Work within and adhere to GPI's core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to all GMP, Safety, Food Safety, Quality Rules and Procedures (Training will be provided).
  • Safely operate, stretch wrapper, pallet jacks, power dolly/lift, air/pneumatic chisel hammer, other warehouse equipment.
  • Remove die cut trim and waste from die cut sheets.
  • Sort and inspect finished goods to assure customer quality expectations are maintained.
  • Identify cutting defects that can be corrected in the stripping area.
  • Monitor the work being performed, recognizing and correcting damage caused in the stripping process.
  • Work in conjunction with the other General Factory workers, Material Handlers, and Die Cutting Operators in the process.
  • Move finished goods or WIP product (work in progress) as directed.
  • Help maintain workflow of material and production within facility.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the area (remove stray cartons, sweep up, etc.).
  • Operate/Maintain Baler, and tie bales.
  • Follow all Plant Safety rules and maintain a safe working environment.
  • May be cross-trained to perform Warehouse duties.
  • May be cross-trained to work in the Finishing Department and perform Case Sealing duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work environment involves constant exposure to adverse conditions such as dust, noise, fumes, weather, poor lighting, or heavy machinery/equipment.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Grasping, Gripping, Climbing, Walking, Standing, Bending, Reaching, Pushing, Pulling, Sweeping, and other.
  • Frequent Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Visual acuity at short distances. Needed to detect variances in job numbers, register and collator marks.
  • Color vision needed to detect inappropriate color of product.

Required Experience

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
