TruePani Inc. is an environmental consulting and communications firm dedicated to improving drinking water quality—especially by supporting communities and utilities as they tackle lead in water infrastructure. Our team blends engineering expertise with accessible communication strategies to build public trust and drive impactful solutions.


Founded in 2016, TruePani is a 100% female-owned small business headquartered in Raleigh, NC. This role is structured as an independent contractor. This opportunity is for fall 2026 continuing into spring 2027.

Key Details:

  • Location: Fairfax, VA (in-person and remote work required)
  • Hours: Approximately 10-15 hours per week.
  • Environmental Sampling: Workdays are typically 6 hour shifts beginning at either noon to 6 PM or 6 AM to noon.
  • Compensation: $25/hour. Compensation is provided for travel time to client sites and mileage reimbursement. This position does not offer health insurance or retirement.


Responsibilities

The individual in this role will work with the larger project management team to:

  • Collect water samples at client sites, mostly schools and child care centers in the area
  • Pack and ship water samples to laboratory
  • Collect information on a digital device while in the field
  • Accurately collect site data and complete chain of custody forms

  • Successful individuals in this role are highly motivated and able to work both within teams and independently. Candidates should be able to anticipate work that needs to be completed. We will train the right person to collect facility water samples to be delivered to the lab for analysis in addition to maintaining a detailed sample log.


    Requirements

    ·      Currently enrolled college student (environmental science or related field preferred) or degree in environmental science, or a related field. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

    ·      Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols

    ·      Comfortable working both independently and with a team

    ·      Proficient in digital data collection tools

    ·      Valid U.S. driver’s license with acceptable driving record and at least two years of driving experience

    • Willing to take and pass a background check

    ·      Based in Fairfax, VA, with reliable transportation

    • Must be comfortable and able to commute to the job's location

    ·      Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and walk or stand for extended periods at client sites

    ·      Courteous, respectful, and motivated to contribute to environmental and public health projects

    • Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status)
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
    • Must be willing to take a drug test in accordance with local law/regulations
    • Must be willing to undergo a background check in accordance with local law/regulations
