Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Senior Trading Analyst in the oil and gas industry to join our team!

Role Summary:

Analyze trading opportunities, operating results, markets/emerging trends and develop points of view that result in business intelligence that can be used by all layers of the organization to support well informed trading and business development decisions.  

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:

  • Reporting and Analysis. Produce daily reports for the traders, actionable info for trading, spreads in particular but also physical, including:
    • Upcoming turnarounds schedules and volumetric impacts
    • Supply & Demand balances (US and Global for crude, gasoline, diesel, jet, etc)
    • Refinery margins in different regions
    • Cargo info (what's on subs, what's on the way to PADD1B etc.)
    • Arb tracking between PADDs and countries
    • Weather outlook
    • Weekly market calls
    • EIA Stats analysis and other agencies (IEA, OPEC)
    • Potentially technical analysis
  • Aggregation of articles from various subscription services and summarizing key insights and takeaways for the Buckeye energy Services team and Commercial Leadership
  • Tool Development. Build analytical tools used for price discovery, arb tracking, reporting and other analyses.
  • Presentations. Develop presentation materials to clearly articulate analysis and key findings to Management.
  • Participate in long range business planning and growth strategy development.
  • Ad Hoc Projects. Ad hoc support for various trader questions, M&A / growth opportunity diligence and business case development, pricing support for the organization, and pricing support for forecasting activities.
  • Provide general back up support to VP, Supply & Trading and VP, Commercial Strategy.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Business, Economics, Finance or Engineering) OR equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience: 3-5 years experience as an analyst in a trading organization required

  • None required.

  • To be successful in this assignment, the incumbent must possess excellent organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Must possess excellent quantitative and analytical skills and a great attention to detail.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of working with minimal need for daily guidance
  • Must possess a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership potential.
