Job Summary
Plans, schedules, and/or coordinates detailed phases of Energy Management System (EMS) engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Projects are in the areas of research, development, implementation, and maintenance of real-time computer systems. TVA uses these systems to economically manage, operate, control, and monitor its generation facilities, transmission facilities, and bulk power marketing efforts. Performs work that involves EMS engineering practice in the area of electrical power system operation. Complexity of job assignments vary greatly to include coordination requirements between several complex computer systems and control algorithms. Work requires a very broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of and practices of the industry.
As a fully competent EMS engineer in all conventional experience aspects of the subject matter of the functional area of the assignment, plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Required sufficient professional experience d to ensure competence as a fully trained worker.
Supervision Received
Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and specialist engineer's or supervisor's approval on proposed plans for projects or work plans.

Minimum Qualifications (Consistent with Classification Standard)
Education and Experience/Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements/Other Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science from an accredited institution. Licensed Professional Engineer desirable. Membership in professional/technical societies is desirable.
