Emergency Medical Technician - EMT

Salary Range $25.00 - $28.00 Hourly

Overview

Westmed Ambulance Service is one of the largest ambulance providers in Northern California, with operations spanning emergency and non-emergency medical transport across the East and South Bay counties. With deployment centers in Alameda and Santa Clara counties, Westmed supports a wide range of services including Neonatal and Pediatric Advanced Transport for major hospital systems, jail and court transports, psychiatric patient transfers, and low-acuity 911 response support in partnership with Santa Clara County. Additionally, Westmed delivers primary EMT, Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Critical Care Transport (CCT) services for the Santa Clara County hospital system and other regional healthcare facilities.

Position Summary

A Westmed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for transporting patients between hospitals and care facilities, delivering both basic and advanced life-saving treatment as needed, and operating emergency vehicles safely and efficiently. Successful EMTs respond promptly to emergency calls, assess patients' conditions to provide appropriate medical care, and develop an initial care plan to stabilize individuals. Strong coordination with Dispatchers and the ability to navigate emergency vehicles under various conditions are essential for this role.

Qualifications
  • California State EMT/Medic Card
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Ambulance Driver Certification
  • Valid Medical Examiner Card
  • Current BLS for Provider CPR card, which meets the American Heart Association Guidelines at the Healthcare Provider Level
  • At least 18 years of age
  • 1 years as a licensed driver (class C) or 1 year experience as a licensed Ambulance driver
  • Clean driving record within 3 years (No points, no citations and no accidents listed)
