Job description

EMT For Critical Care Transport Team

Nemours is seeking an EMT for our Critical Care Transport Team! Day and Night positions available, 36 hours per week, with weekend and holiday requirements.

As one of the nation's leading pediatric healthcare systems, Nemours is committed to providing all children with their best chance to grow up healthy. We offer integrated, family-centered care to more than 2.8 million children each year in our pediatric hospitals, specialty clinics and primary care practices in Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. At Nemours, our associates help us deliver on the promise we make to every family we have the privilege of serving: to treat their child as if they were our own.

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients from referring hospitals to other facilities and destinations. This includes the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and being an assistance to the transport Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist teams. All direct care is provided under the EMT certification. Additional skills performed by the EMT are under the direct supervision of the transport team RN/RT and under Medical Command Officer direction.

The CCTT transports on average 130-140 calls a month. Ninety (90) percent of patients are transported by ambulance; the remaining patients are transported by flight. Patient placement includes specialty care units such as pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, cardiac intensive care, emergency, and surgical units, as well as the general pediatric floors. In addition to performing interfacility transports, the CCTT staff assists with patient care and available resources in units throughout the hospital.

Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Nemours' insurance carrier.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Florida EMT certification required
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
  • EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Certificate) or approved equivalent required
  • Minimum two years of driving experience in an emergency medical services capacity required
