JOB SUMMARY:
  • Apply engineering theory and technical skills to support mechanical and electrical engineering activities.
  • Create and maintain mechanical diagrams, layout drawings and parts lists used for the manufacture and installation of mechanical equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate's degree (two years' college or technical school) or equal mechanical drafting experience.
  • 2 - 4 years of related experience.
  • Computer Skills including EPLAN, Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, 3-D, and Microsoft Office.
  • Aggressive and independent learner.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekdays, and weekends to meet customer service requirements.

DESIRABLE:
  • Knowledge of ASME standards is desirable.
  • Knowledge of mechanical 3-D drafting and reading and understanding these drawings are desirable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Create detail and assembly drawings of design components using computer-aided design (CAD) software and standard drafting techniques.
  • Create bill-of-material and part numbers for mechanical schematics.
  • Consult with engineers to discuss and interpret design concepts and determine requirements of detailed working drawings.
  • Understand manufacturing and installation processes and what is required on detail and assembly drawings to accomplish them.
  • Read and understand schematics and drawings of mechanical systems.
  • Maintain parts database and drawing libraries.
  • Support printing, creating, filling, and other drafting support functions.
  • Review work performed by his/her peers for correctness.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Sitting at desk for extended periods of time.
  • Normally in an office environment but will be exposed to shop and site environment as job requires.
  • Aerial work may be required.
  • Environmental conditions vary from facility to facility (i.e. heat, noise).
  • Occasional lifting of heavy objects.
  • Uneven or slippery walking surfaces.
  • Work from assigned L&S office unless prior approval given.
