Collins Aerospace is looking for an experienced Wastewater Treatment Operator to support industrial wastewater treatment operations within an aerospace repair and overhaul facility. The facility performs a variety of electroplating, stripping, cleaning, and surface treatment processes, including chrome plating, sulfamate nickel plating, cadmium plating, electroless nickel stripping, and HVOF coating removal.

The Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and effective day-to-day operation of the site's industrial wastewater treatment systems. This position requires hands-on operation of treatment equipment, chemical additions and adjustments, routine testing, troubleshooting, hazardous waste management, and coordination of equipment maintenance.The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong understanding of the wastewater treatment process, identify and resolve abnormal conditions, and contribute to improvements in process reliability and effectiveness. The position provides an opportunity to take on increasing technical ownership and potentially develop into broader laboratory and chemical-processing responsibilities based on demonstrated capability and business needs.

What You Will Do:

  • Operate and monitor industrial wastewater treatment systems supporting electroplating, stripping, cleaning, and other chemical-processing operations.
  • Perform wastewater treatment activities including chemical preparation and additions, pH adjustment, process testing, precipitation, filtration, sludge handling, and other treatment steps as required.
  • Monitor process conditions and analytical results, make appropriate operating adjustments, troubleshoot abnormal conditions, and maintain required treatment records and documentation.
  • Inspect and support maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment including tanks, pumps, mixers, piping, filtration systems, chemical-feed equipment, and instrumentation.
  • Coordinate and participate in periodic and annual tank maintenance, including tank cleanouts, sludge removal, equipment inspections, and system preparation.
  • Support safe and compliant hazardous waste management, including segregation, labeling, storage, documentation, and coordination for disposal.
  • Maintain appropriate inventories of treatment chemicals, consumables, and operating supplies.
  • Identify and support improvements to wastewater treatment processes, equipment reliability, chemical usage, safety, and overall process effectiveness, including system additions and modifications.
  • Work closely with EHS, Engineering, Maintenance, Laboratory, Production, and other functions to support safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, follow all applicable safety and environmental requirements, and perform other duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.


Qualifications You Must Have : 

  • Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in industrial wastewater treatment, chemical processing, electroplating, metal finishing, industrial maintenance, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of basic chemical-treatment principles such as pH adjustment, chemical additions, reaction control, precipitation, filtration, and process monitoring.
  • Ability to safely handle industrial chemicals and follow established chemical-handling, PPE, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Prior professional or educational experience communicating in English (verbal and written)

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience operating industrial wastewater treatment systems in an electroplating, metal-finishing, aerospace, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations associated with chemical additions, concentrations, tank volumes, and process adjustments.
  • Ability to read and follow operating procedures, work instructions, equipment manuals, and chemical safety information.
  • Ability to accurately document operating conditions, test results, chemical additions, maintenance activities, and abnormal events.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot process and equipment issues and make appropriate day-to-day operating decisions within established procedures.
    Experience treating metal-bearing wastewater associated with chrome, nickel, cadmium, or other surface-treatment processes.
  • Experience with wet-chemistry or laboratory testing such as pH, conductivity, titration, or concentration analysis.
  • Experience troubleshooting wastewater treatment equipment, pumps, filtration systems, chemical-feed systems, or related process equipment.
  • Experience supporting hazardous waste management, system maintenance, process improvements, or equipment modifications.
  • Experience serving as a senior operator, trainer, or technical lead.

The salary range for this role is 43,400 USD - 82,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
