Job description

Job Title: Electrical Design & Programming Technician Basic Purpose of the Position: This position will work with the manufacturing engineering and product sales groups. Design custom electrical schematics, with the use of electrical standards, UL and NEC code. Program computer based electrical and PLC design software. Design and calculate burner, air flow, and electrical requirements. Provide startup/operational support and communicate to customers and Evapco Field Service Technicians. Major Areas of Responsibility:
  • Software/Controls Design
    • Program PLC code for units in multiple software formats
    • Design HMI graphic interfaces
    • Control industrial refrigeration valve systems
  • Electrical Design
    • Understand and apply code for industrial electrical applications
    • Design custom schematics for Industrial HVAC Units
    • Calculate and design burner, air flow, and electrical requirements
    • New product development for constantly evolving electrical components
    • Review and revise electrical schematics
  • Safety:
    • Design unit electrical systems with employee and customer safety in mind
    • Guide all personnel in safety procedures and the proper wearing and use of PPE for job task
  • Quality & Service:
    • Provide support to field service, factory, and customers
    • Help all technicians resolve quality problems and issues related to electrical and controls systems
    • Clearly communicate with customers and contractors
    • Resolve problems and issues with electrical prints and design
  • Housekeeping:
    • Maintain clean working area throughout the day
    • Maintain clean and organized digital files on computer and server
  • Participate in team and shop business problem solving activities that include quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements
  • Meet or exceed annual safety, quality, 5-S, and productivity targets
  • Attend training courses as directed by management
  • May perform other duties, as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:
  • 5+ years experience of the following
  • Familiar with and understands use of software including
    • Rockwell Automation
    • Eplan
    • Pro Panel (Eplan 3D)
    • Schneider Electric
    • Siemens
    • AutoCAD
    • Microsoft Office, Teams, Excel, and Word
    • TeamViewer
    • VNC Viewer
  • Familiar with and understanding of concepts including
    • Industrial electrical systems and components including PLC, VFD, sensors, motor starters, etc.
    • Industrial refrigeration systems (NH3, CO2, Glycol, and other refrigerants)
    • Burner direct and indirect, natural and propane
    • Air flows, volume, pressure, dew point, humidity control
  • Engineering or Technologies Degree preferred, experience may substitute.
  • Extremely fluent with computer use and digital communication
  • Ability to work remotely when needed
  • Basic understanding of NEC/ NFPA 70 code and UL508A and how to find information within code book
  • Basic math for engineering calculations (i.e. add/subtract/divide/multiply, whole numbers and fractions)
  • Must have a valid driver's license
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Office, Manufacturing, and outdoor environments
  • Monday through Friday, with some weekend based on customer requirements Saturday's and Sunday's
