Job Title: CNC MachinistJob DescriptionThis role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating CNC and manual lathes and mills to produce high-quality components that meet precise specifications. You will ensure safe and efficient production, collaborate closely with engineering teams, and support continuous improvement in machining processes and tooling solutions.
Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
- Program and set up CNC lathes for machine operators, including selecting and installing appropriate tools, fixtures, and workholding devices.
- Collaborate with engineers to design fixtures and develop optimal tooling setups for new and existing parts.
- Operate CNC and manual lathes and mills to produce parts that meet engineering drawings and specifications.
- Conduct in-process and final quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and other measuring tools to verify product dimensions and tolerances.
- Monitor machining operations and adjust programs, offsets, or tooling as needed to maintain part quality and productivity.
- Troubleshoot machining and production issues promptly to minimize downtime and scrap.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve machining processes, optimize toolpaths, and implement new tooling solutions.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products related to assigned work, and ensure parts are properly packaged and prepared for shipment.
- Work with OEMs and suppliers to identify, evaluate, and purchase appropriate tooling and equipment.
- Support and guide machine operators by providing clear setup instructions, best practices, and technical assistance.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to setups, programs, tooling, and process changes.
Essential Skills- Proven experience as a CNC machinist with hands-on responsibility for programming, setup, and operation.
- Proficiency in operating both manual lathes and mills.
- Strong knowledge of tooling practices, cutting parameters, and machining methods.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM programming and CAD/CAM software.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs, tooling, or setups to resolve problems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, operators, and suppliers.
- Excellent leadership abilities to support and guide machine operators and contribute to process improvements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Experience working with OEMs and suppliers to identify and purchase the correct tooling.
- Experience with CNC controls and machining centers that utilize Mazatrol or similar control systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience programming Mazatrol T Plus CNC controllers.
- Experience programming Mazatrol SmoothG CNC controllers.
- Experience optimizing toolpaths for maximum tool life and productivity.
- Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Comfort working with CAD/CAM software to create and modify CNC programs.
- Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives in a machining environment.

Work EnvironmentThis position operates primarily in a machining and manufacturing environment on a day shift schedule of 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed based on production demands. You will work around CNC and manual lathes, mills, and related equipment, as well as precision measuring instruments and CAD/CAM tools. The role may involve using overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move materials and components safely. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, with a focus on efficient production and high-quality output.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Dothan, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $62400.00/yr.
Overtime offered + great benefits when brought on permanent uniforms paid for after 30 days, insurance after 60 days, 401k match after 1 year, 6 paid holidays, holiday bonuses (paid out 32/34 last years), 3 weeks vacation when on permanent
