Varstaff is looking for an Engineer Supplier Development III
Job Description
As a member of the Supplier Recovery Team (SRT), you will engage strategically with suppliers who do not meet key performance metrics, ensuring they adhere to cost, quality, and delivery expectations. Acting as the primary liaison, you will collaborate with internal Procurement, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to identify the root causes of non-performance, eliminate manufacturing bottlenecks, and develop robust recovery plans to support ambitious production goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Improve quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and rate limiters/bottlenecks across the supply chain.
  • Review supplier manufacturing processes and recommend actions to optimize yield and throughput.
  • Partner with internal quality teams to purge suspect or non-conforming material from inventory.
  • Oversee and conduct supplier audits to verify part performance, delivery, and reliability.
  • Develop schedules, tracking metrics, and plans to onboard new parts, design changes, and production processes.
  • Implement and continuously improve workflows for receiving inspection, product traceability, and nonconforming hardware management.

Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (Candidates with 3+ years may be considered for a Level II role).
  • Experience in hardware development and the manufacturing of complex electronic assemblies.
  • Experience in the technical management of suppliers and implementing DFx principles in outsourced environments.
  • Proficiency with fault tree analysis, value stream mapping, or process flow mapping.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical problems to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawful refugee/asylee.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in engineering or business.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar training/certification.
  • Experience with capacity modeling, Pareto analysis, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Experience with tooling bring-up, machining, secondary finishes, packaging design, and qualification.
  • Hands-on familiarity with metallic, plastic, composite, or electromechanical manufacturing techniques.
