Job description

All Virginia (AVA) partners with public high schools across the Commonwealth to support UVA's mission of developing the full potential of talented students from all walks of life, while advancing our commitment to excellence and affordable access. Housed in the Enrollment division, this position will strengthen the University of Virginia's service to the Commonwealth. Reporting to the Director of All Virginia, the All Virginia (AVA) Outreach and Engagement Coordinator advances the mission of All Virginia through outreach, relationship-building, and cooperative engagement with students, families, and schools across the Commonwealth from economically disadvantaged communities. This role supports prospective students and families through the college and financial aid application process, through programming, in person and virtual engagement, and communication to increase awareness of UVA's financial aid and support financial aid application completion at high schools supported by All Virginia. The Coordinator serves as a visible representative of UVA in communities throughout Virginia and works collaboratively with Enrollment support staff as a member of the All Virginia team. The role is supported by the Pell Initiative for Virginia, an initiative of the General Assembly and State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
The Enrollment division at UVA includes the Office of Undergraduate Admission, the Office of the University Registrar, Student Financial Services, and Commonwealth Partnerships. The AVA Outreach and Engagement Coordinator will join engaged, innovative colleagues working collaboratively to compete for talented students from all walks of life and to care for students from their first interaction with the University through Final Exercises and beyond.
Responsibilities
Outreach & Recruitment Coordination with UVA's Office of Undergraduate Admission and Student Financial Services
  • Conduct outreach to schools with high rates of socioeconomic disadvantage, community organizations, and college access programs across Virginia.
  • Represent UVA and All Virginia at college fairs, school visits, community events, and recruitment programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with counselors, educators, community leaders, and college access professionals statewide.
  • Encourage high-achieving students to apply to and consider enrolling at UVA.
  • Develop and execute family-centered programming that builds trust and improves information-sharing related to admissions, financial aid, college preparation, and college transition.
  • Assist in planning and executing yield and college transition efforts, including AVA Admitted Student Celebrations, in partnership with OUA.
  • Represent All Virginia in OUA and SFS meetings and events appropriately.

Programming & Student Engagement
  • Develop and facilitate virtual and in-person workshops and programming on topics including admissions, financial aid, essay writing, and college preparation.
  • Support planning and execution of All Virginia recruitment, yield, and community engagement events, including on-Grounds experiences.
  • Assist with prospective student follow-up and engagement strategies.
  • Participate in all All Virginia initiatives, as well as evening and weekend programming, as needed.
  • Track and analyze engagement, recruitment, and financial aid support outcomes related to relevant AVA programming.
  • Maintain accurate records and participation data within Slate CRM system.

Communications & Digital Engagement
  • Manage and maintain the All Virginia social media presence in collaboration with CP Communications Specialist.
  • Create engaging digital content that highlights student experiences, opportunities, events, and resources.
  • Assist with communication campaigns aimed at prospective students, families, counselors, and community partners.
  • Plan and execute virtual outreach initiatives and online engagement strategies.
  • Assist in preparing annual reports, assessment summaries, and strategic recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: 1+ year of relevant experience required. Experience in college admissions, college access, financial aid, educational outreach, communications, student services, or community engagement preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to UVA's mission, being a University that serves the public, welcomes students from all walks of life, and makes an excellent education affordable for Virginia families
  • Strong presentation, public speaking, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with social media management and digital engagement preferred.
  • Ability to travel throughout Virginia and work evenings/weekends, as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Salary Range
  • The anticipated hiring range is $52,000 - $55,000, commensurate with education and experience.

Position Type & Work Location

  • This is a restricted position, which is dependent on funding and is contingent upon funding availability.
  • This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days on Grounds per week, with additional on-site presence as needed, in accordance with UVA's remote work guidelines.
