POSITION PURPOSE

Computed Tomography/Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing general CT and CT Angiograms, radiologic procedures and an understanding of the PAC System. Registry in CT is preferred or registry eligible. This position does include weeknight and weekend call. “Employee performs all duties in a manner consistent with the mission and values of MVMC.”    

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Performs CT exams per MVMC protocols.
2. Performs X-Ray exams per MVMC protocols.
3. Follow ALARA standards.
4. Calibrate and maintain CT scanner and X-Ray Imaging equipment.
5. Uses proper shielding and collimation for safety of patients, self and co-workers. 
6. Assess patient for appropriate IV site.
7. Educate the patient as to the type of study being performed and the preparation for the procedure.
8. Assess for contra indications for IV and Oral contrast.
9. Administer IV and Oral contrast material as appropriate for each patient.
10. Basic computer and PACS skills for scheduling through the current EMR System for the Imaging patients, billing, and transferring of information to radiologist and other medical entities.
11. Must have the ability to work long hours in a sometime stressful environment.
12. Must be able to communicate well with medical providers and the radiologist.
13. Maintain accurate logs and quality control data.
14. Maintain a safe working environment.
15. This position includes weeknight and weekend call.
16. Maintain stock and clean rooms.
17. Maintain CT local database.
18. Other duties as assigned.
19. Satisfactory time and attendance.

Education, License/Registration, Experience, Knowledge, and Abilities

• High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent.  
• 2 years’ experience in Radiology and basic cross training in CT modules preferred.  
• Must have ARRT Registry and Montana State License.
• Maintain continuing education requirements.
• BLS certification required.

Non-Essential Functions: Attend workshops, seminars, and educational sessions to keep updated on changes in assigned area(s) of responsibility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Extensive standing and walking with occasional reaching stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull at least 50 pounds. Must be able to move patient(s) in wheelchairs or on gurneys. Very good close vision and the ability to identify and distinguish color. Some risk of radiation exposure. Some risk of electrical shock. Work is in a clean hospital environment. Noise level is quiet to moderate. Frequent keyboarding and repetitive movements.

Supervision Exercised: This position does not supervise other staff.

OSHA CATEGORY CLASSIFICATION

Category classifications have been developed to assist employees in determining their risk for occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. These categories are:

Category I Employee will have occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the performance of their routine jobs.

Category II Employee may have occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the performance of their routine jobs.

Category III Employee will not have exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the performance of their routine job.
